In 2023, EDI unveiled its Job Guarantee resource tool for scholars, policymakers, and engaged citizens. This site, with its concise description of the job guarantee policy and a deep repository of global news and research, aims to be a dynamic hub and resource for engaged citizens, academics, and policymakers. We invite you to explore the site and its tools.
EDI Policy Work
- In 2021, EDI had assembled the largest selection of panels on the Job Guarantee at the Democratizing Work Global Forum and helped produce video content, including a conversation with French economist Thomas Piketty and EDI Director Tcherneva.
- EDI was instrumental in the preparation of the 2023 United Nations report on the job guarantee, “The Employment Guarantee as a Tool in the Fight Against Poverty,” which was released in June by the UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights Olivier De Schutter. Director Tcherneva provided her expert opinion in the development of the report.
- Building upon a separate 2022 report by Pavlina Tcherneva and Member of European Parliament Aurore Lalucq, the European Parliament passed a resolution “Job creation – the just transition and impact investments” in November 2023, which recognized the job guarantee as an essential tool in the fight for a more sustainable and equitable future.
